Responsibilities
Electrical Engineering & BESS Design
• Review one-line diagrams, equipment specifications, electrical calculations, design drawings, and technical studies for accuracy, completeness, and constructability for utility-scale BESS and other inverter-based resource projects.
• Support engineering activities involving batteries, power conversion systems and inverters, transformers, switchgear, cables, grounding, protection, controls, and auxiliary power systems, and support their technical evaluation.
• Apply electrical engineering fundamentals to equipment sizing, system configuration, power-flow requirements, short-circuit considerations, voltage drop, cable ampacity, reactive power capability, and related design decisions.
• Support the resolution of electrical design, equipment, construction, commissioning, and operational issues, as well as performing/guiding root-cause analyses for equipment failures, design deficiencies, and system performance issues.
• Identify repetitive, manual, or inconsistent engineering workflows that can be improved through automation or internal software tools.
• Develop and maintain engineering applications, calculation tools, data-validation utilities, dashboards, and workflow automation using AI assisted developed tools using open sourced and common software languages
• Create tools that support activities such as design reviews, equipment comparisons, engineering calculations, data quality checks, document generation, requirements tracking, and project decision-making.
• Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Devin, or similar platforms to accelerate software development, testing, documentation, and maintenance.
• Apply sound engineering judgment when developing and validating tools to ensure outputs are technically correct, traceable, and appropriate for engineering use.
• Establish documentation, testing, version-control, and change-management practices for internally developed engineering tools.
• Collaborate with engineers and project stakeholders to define user requirements, prioritize development needs, and support adoption of new tools.
• Help develop responsible practices for the use of AI in engineering workflows, including technical validation, data handling, cybersecurity, and human review.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
• 5+ years of engineering experience in power, energy, data center, or industrial infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of power system fundamentals: one-line diagrams, protection and controls, grounding, arc flash, and interconnection.
• Experience reviewing and coordinating engineering deliverables with external design firms or EORs.
• Ability to validate software-generated engineering results against accepted calculations.
