Job summary

Kearfott Corporation in Black Mountain, NC, seeks an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electronics design for advanced aerospace, defense, and unmanned systems.

This hands-on role covers the full development lifecycle from requirements through production, emphasizing analog/digital circuit design, schematic development, PCB work, and rigorous testing with lab equipment. The successful candidate collaborates across mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams and travels as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• 4+ years of professional electrical/electronics product development experience.
• Experience designing analog and/or digital electronic circuits.
• Hands-on experience with electrical schematics.
• Experience with circuit analysis and simulation using PSpice, LTspice, SPICE, MATLAB, Mathcad, or similar.
• PCB/PCBA development knowledge including layout, fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, etc.
• Experience supporting products through multiple development lifecycle phases.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to travel occasionally.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute electrical design activities from requirements through production release.
• Develop architectures and hardware designs for complex electromechanical products.
• Design analog, digital, mixed-signal, power, interface, and control circuitry.
• Develop and review schematics, components, PCB designs.
• Perform circuit analysis and simulation with PSpice, LTspice, MATLAB, Mathcad.
• Develop prototypes, board bring-up, testing, and verification.
• Apply DFM considerations for reliability and cost effectiveness.
• Develop and execute engineering test plans for verification and qualification.
• Lead technical problem solving and root-cause analysis.
• Support engineering changes, obsolescence, and cost reductions.
• Assist transition of designs into manufacturing.
