Job summary

Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) in Kirkland, WA seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead design of in-seat power supplies and USB outlets for commercial aircraft. You will drive certification, guide the electrical team, and push innovation in power conversion technologies.

The role requires extensive power electronics expertise, leadership, and strong documentation and presentation skills to achieve DO-160 and aircraft partner requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) is required.
• 12+ years of relevant experience in electrical design, with power supply/power conversion focus.
• Expertise with resonant power converter topologies and digital control of power supplies.
• Experience designing to DO-160 and aerospace requirements (Airbus/Boeing).

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design of aerospace-grade in-seat power supplies and USB outlet units from concept through certification.
• Translate functional and system requirements into robust electrical architectures and detailed designs.
• Perform simulations and trade studies to optimize performance, reliability, and cost.
• Lead and mentor the EE team to achieve DO-160, Airbus, and Boeing certification objectives.
