Job description

Description

This position offers the opportunity to work within a project team environment alongside engineers and designers involved in the design, modification, and analysis of nuclear power plant electrical systems.

You will engage in challenging projects that include investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving various electrical engineering issues.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and reviewing engineering design change packages for installing, replacing, or upgrading plant equipment to ensure reliability.
  • Developing and reviewing detailed engineering calculations supporting design changes, such as power studies, short circuit analysis, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, and relay settings.
  • Preparing and reviewing equipment procurement specifications.
  • Participating in bid evaluations, supporting vendor inquiries, and maintaining tracking mechanisms.
  • Creating scoping documents for conceptual designs, including constructability reviews.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary project team members (Mechanical, Structural, Civil, I&C).
  • Interfacing with clients, vendors, and supporting site activities including field walkdowns and design reviews.
  • Traveling to client and vendor sites as needed for project support and verification.
  • Supporting site installation activities during project execution.
  • Assisting the project manager to ensure timely and within-budget project completion.
  • Overseeing technical, financial, and administrative aspects of the engineering scope, including scope definition, deliverables, progress tracking, and issue resolution.

This position is based on a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office work 3 days per week.

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • An electrical engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical system design for industrial applications, especially in power plants.
  • Experience in selecting equipment, preparing design change packages, calculations, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems including low and medium voltage distribution, transformers, generators, relays, etc.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear plant.

Valued but not required:

  • PE license
  • MSEE

Compensation Range

$91,220.00 - $140,750.00
