Pixels On Target (Pixels) is an Original Equipment Manufacturer headquartered in Sunrise, Florida, specializing in uncooled thermal imaging sights, fire control systems, multi-sensor targeting systems, and electro-optical products for defense and public safety agencies. Founded in 2019, Pixels combines expertise in imaging sensors (LWIR, MWIR, MWIR+SWIR, sCMOS, CMOS), Image and Signal Processing (ISP) electronic design, fire control systems, targeting systems, wireless communications, and software-defined architectures. All products are manufactured in the United States and are export-controlled under ITAR.

The Role
We are hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to own board-level hardware from architecture through production on our thermal sight, fire control, and targeting products. This is a hands-on design and bring-up role. You will draw the schematic, drive the layout, build the first article, put it on the bench, find out why it does not work, and fix it. Our products go on a weapon or on a helmet, so every milliwatt, every gram, and every solder joint matters.
You will work in a small engineering team where the electrical engineer owns the board end to end and works shoulder to shoulder with firmware, software, mechanical, and optics. If you want deep ownership rather than a narrow slice of someone else’s design, this is that job.
What You Will Do
- Architect, design, and release microcontroller and microprocessor based boards from requirements through production, including schematic capture and multilayer PCB layout in Altium Designer.
- Develop FPGA and SoC digital designs in SystemVerilog, including sensor interfaces, timing generation, and image data paths.
- Design and integrate high-speed and low-speed digital interfaces: LVDS, MIPI, DDR, USB, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, and CAN.
- Design mixed-signal and imaging front-end electronics, including focal plane array and ROIC interfaces, bias and timing circuits, ADC front ends, and low-noise analog conditioning for LWIR, MWIR, sCMOS, and CMOS sensors.
- Design power and systems electronics for battery-operated, low-SWaP products: DC-DC conversion, battery management, power sequencing, low-noise rails, and standby power budgets.
- Lead design bring‑up in the lab. Own first-article debug with oscilloscope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, and thermal camera, and root cause failures to the component and signal level.
- Perform design analysis before the board is built: worst-case circuit analysis, derating, tolerance stack-up, signal and power integrity, thermal analysis, and failure mode review.
- Drive EMI/EMC and environmental qualification, including MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-810 test planning, chamber support, and design mitigation.
- Support manufacturing and test: design for manufacturability and testability, test fixture definition, functional and in-circuit test, contract manufacturer support, and yield and failure analysis.
- Own the technical baseline: schematics, BOMs, interface documents, engineering change orders, and test reports under our ISO 9001 quality system.
- Support proposals and program reviews with credible technical inputs, trade studies, and risk assessments.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- 5 to 8 years of professional electronic hardware design experience with products that shipped.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Altium Designer for schematic capture and multilayer PCB layout, including constraint-driven high-speed routing.
- Hands-on experience designing microcontroller and microprocessor based boards, including memory, power, clocking, boot, and peripheral interfaces.
- Working knowledge of SystemVerilog and FPGA design flows, including simulation and timing closure.
- Depth across analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power design rather than a single narrow specialty.
- Proven lab discipline: you bring up your own designs, you instrument the problem, and you root cause it instead of guessing.
- Strong design analysis habits and the technical judgment to defend a design decision with data.
- Clear written and verbal communication with cross-functional teams and customers.
- U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to ITAR export control requirements.
Nice to Have
- Electro-optical, thermal imaging, camera, or sensor electronics experience.
- Image and signal processing pipeline experience, including sensor calibration, non-uniformity correction, and video interfaces.
- Ruggedized defense or aerospace hardware experience with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, or equivalent qualification programs.
- RF and wireless design experience, including antenna integration and link budgets.
- Low-SWaP handheld, weapon-mounted, or helmet-mounted product experience.
- Familiarity with IPC-2221, IPC-A-610, or similar design and workmanship standards.
- An active or prior DoD Secret clearance is a plus, but is not required.
Compensation and Location
- Base salary range: $110,000 to $145,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
- On-site, full-time at our Sunrise, Florida facility. This role is not remote or hybrid.
