Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol is seeking a Senior Level Electrical Engineer to join our Seattle or Federal Way office. You will develop designs from microgrids to offshore wind support, prepare complex plans, and create one-line diagrams, panel and cable schedules, and related specifications for diverse projects.

Required are a PE license, a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, and 10+ years of experience in power distribution, grounding, communications, and switchgear design.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer License (PE) in Electrical Engineering; required.
  • 10+ years of related experience in: Medium/low voltage power distribution systems.
  • Grounding systems, communications systems, and electrical equipment design.
  • Selective coordination and arc flash studies; working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit; required.

Responsibilities

  • Completes multiple or complex electrical designs to support firm-wide projects by working with Project Managers and electrical teammates.
  • Provides design calculations, drawings and project specifications for MV/LV power distribution, grounding, communications and control systems.
  • Electrical equipment design including switchboards and switchgear.
  • Performs arc flash studies and selective coordination.
  • Prepares detailed contract documents, studies and cost estimates.
  • Submittal reviews and construction observations for electrical work on projects.
  • Assist in QA/QC processes.

We are actively looking for a Senior Level Electrical Engineer to join our Seattle or Federal Way office. The responsibilities of this position include: working with new technologies and developing industries from microgrids to projects supporting offshore wind ports; preparing multiple or complex plans, designs and plan production for general electrical engineering on a wide variety of projects which may include lighting, power, and grounding plans, one-line diagrams, panel and cable schedules, and different project specifications.

  • Completes multiple or complex electrical designs to support firm-wide projects by working with Project Managers (any discipline) and electrical teammates
  • Provides multiple or complex design calculations, design drawings, and project specifications for the following but not limited to:
  • Medium/low voltage power distribution systems
  • Microgrids to projects in the offshore wind industry
  • Grounding systems
  • Communications systems
  • Control Systems
  • Electrical equipment design (including switchboards and switchgear)
  • Electrical calculations, selective coordination and arc flash studies
  • Prepares detailed large contract documents, studies and cost estimates
  • Submittal reviews and construction observations for electrical work on projects
  • Assist in company-wide Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes
