Job description

Location: Orlando, FL (hybrid – must be local)

Salary: $120,000 – $170,000 + Benefits (DOE)

An innovative space technology company is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to play a key role in developing a next‑generation Earth observation payload that will help redefine how our planet is mapped from space.

This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of the electrical architecture of a sophisticated spaceborn instrument, working across the complete product lifecycle from concept and detailed design through hardware build, environmental testing, integration and launch preparation.

Working alongside a highly experienced multidisciplinary engineering team, you’ll influence critical design decisions while helping deliver cutting‑edge space hardware from the ground up.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead the design and development of the payload’s electrical architecture, including power, data and avionics systems.
  • Develop high-reliability electronics for a complex spaceflight instrument.
  • Design FPGA-based hardware and integrate high‑speed digital interfaces and peripherals.
  • Develop precision timing and synchronization systems for mission‑critical payload operations.
  • Design power regulation and distribution systems for space applications.
  • Work closely with optical, mechanical and systems engineers to integrate the complete payload.
  • Collaborate with specialist suppliers to ensure critical hardware meets demanding performance requirements.
  • Support hardware build, assembly, integration, environmental testing and space qualification activities.
  • Perform circuit analysis, identify technical risks and contribute to design verification and validation.
  • Produce engineering documentation for design reviews, interface control, testing and system verification.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 7+ years of experience developing complex electronic systems.
  • Experience designing electrical systems for aerospace, space or other high-reliability environments.
  • Strong understanding of power electronics, avionics and embedded hardware.
  • Experience with FPGA-based systems and high-speed digital interfaces.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft electrical architectures, power distribution and command & data handling systems.
  • Experience with EMC/EMI, grounding strategies and hardware qualification.
  • Ability to translate system-level requirements into robust hardware designs.
  • Excellent communication skills with experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Nice to Have
  • Laser or optical instrumentation.
  • Radiation analysis or radiation-tolerant electronics.
  • Analog and digital circuit board design.
  • Sensor integration.
  • PCB and CCA development.
  • SPICE simulation experience.
Why Join?

This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact on the development of a flagship space mission. You’ll have ownership of critical electrical systems while working through the entire engineering lifecycle, from concept and architecture to flight hardware, integration and qualification.

You’ll join a collaborative, fast-moving engineering team where your work will directly influence the success of an innovative space program, with the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges and see your designs become reality.

If you’re looking for a role where you’ll combine technical ownership, cutting‑edge engineering and real mission impact, we’d love to hear from you.
