Job summary

Paylocity is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to design transformers up to full production. You will review specifications, perform mechanical and electrical design, prepare submittals, and support production through the life of in-progress transformers.

You will also participate in pre-production builds, assist sales with quoting, and help develop documentation and test reports while coordinating with manufacturing to ensure design integrity.

Qualifications

• 0-5 years’ experience in Design/Engineering.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Designs transformers through electrical and mechanical interpretation of purchase specifications.
• Performs optimized calculations and computations to plan transformer design procedures.
• Develops wire schematic diagrams.
• Interacts with customers to resolve technical issues.
• Creates test reports and leads witness testing.
• Creates BOMs in ERP software.
• Assists with purchasing transformer parts and materials.
• Inspects transformers throughout manufacturing and coordinates design revisions.
• Participates in project teams for new product development.

Job Summary:

A member of the technical staff, the Electrical Design Engineer, is responsible for the design of new transformers up to full production. This includes specification reviews, design reviews, mechanical designs, customer submittal packages, pre-production builds, and transfers to production. The Electrical Design Engineer is also responsible for technical support of in-production transformers throughout the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform various engineering tasks involving design, development, preparation of electrical and mechanical drawings, technical support, and assistance in testing.
• Design transformers through electrical and mechanical interpretation of purchase specifications.
• Perform optimized calculations and computations to plan and implement specific transformer design procedures.
• Analyze and develop wire schematic diagrams.
• Interact with customers to resolve technical issues.
• Create test reports and lead witness testing.
• Assist Sales Team with transformer designs for quoting purposes.
• Create Bill of Materials in ERP Software.
• Assist with the purchasing of transformer parts and materials.
• Inspect the transformer throughout the manufacturing process and coordinate any necessary design revisions with the appropriate Manufacturing department.
• Participate in project teams and all activities related to the development of new products.

Qualifications:

Required

• 0-5 years’ experience in Design/Engineering.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred

• Modeling and design experience.
• Knowledge of ERP systems.
• Strong academic background in Electrical Engineering (Power & Electromagnetics).
