Job summary

Client Confidential Engineering in Virginia seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer with a PE to lead design and construction administration of building electrical systems, including lighting and power distribution.

You will supervise junior engineers and CAD operators, conduct field surveys, and travel up to 10 nights per year. Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit and lighting analysis tools is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Electrical/Architectural/Lighting focus.
• 10–20 years of design and construction administration experience for electrical building systems.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Experience with field surveys, code analyses, calculations, equipment selections, and specifications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to mentor and manage others.

Responsibilities

My client is a top notch MEP Consulting Engineering firm doing institutional and governmental projects. They are looking for Electrical Engineering talent.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or Architectural Engineering (Electrical / Lighting focus).
• 10 to 20 years of experience in design and construction administration of electrical building systems including lighting, lighting controls and interior and exterior power distribution.
• Professional Engineer license.
• Experience with field surveys, code analyses, calculations, equipment selections, and specifications.
• Strong communicator with skillset to supervise junior engineers and CAD operators as they develop contract drawings.
• Self-starter with a passion for problem solving.
• Proficient in either AutoCAD or Revit.
• Proficient in Lighting Analysts (AGI32) and SKM or Easypower.
• Proficient Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to conduct day-long field surveys outdoors and indoors in conditioned and unconditioned spaces, including walking up to 10-20k steps in a day, climbing up and down a 6-foot ladder, kneeling, squatting, and bending.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Strong desire to motivate, mentor, and manage the work of others supporting your projects, with emphasis on employee growth, project success, and overall performance.
• Ability to obtain site access at client locations.
