Job Summary

Performs high-level non-routine engineering duties, recognizes unusual situations where standard procedures are inappropriate, and executes sophisticated designs and calculations. Directs work efforts of other engineers or manages small to mid-size engineering projects.

Salary

$160,000 – $201,000

Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties
  • Prepare power distribution, grounding, lighting, and other design drawings to meet project requirements. Produce calculations that substantiate design decisions and provide a basis for design.
  • Develop equipment specifications to control design and procurement activities.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to review their work and respond to their reviews.
  • Maintain complete and auditable records of customer correspondence and design decisions affecting the final work product.
  • Apply engineering principles and exhibit excellent working knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
  • Work within prescribed budgets and schedules for self or projects, and may establish budgets and schedules.
  • Recommend, approve, and make modifications or design changes as needed within defined parameters.
  • Prepare and coordinate engineering reports, studies, and calculations as required; present findings at meetings and conferences.
  • Lead conferences and meetings with clients to establish project objectives and resolve all levels of design problems.
  • Collect field information and resolve field problems.
  • Direct work efforts of other engineers, architects, designers, and drafters.
  • Demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers, customers, and visitors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) certification required.
  • 20-30 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer.
  • Knowledge of DOE Orders, DOE ISMS, and OSHA regulations.
Specific and Relevant Experience
  • Experience with low voltage power distribution systems.
  • Knowledge and working experience with NEC, ISA, IEEE Regulatory Codes.
  • Medium voltage distribution experience is a plus.
  • Experience working on DOE or DOD government projects is a plus.
  • Experience designing lighting, grounding, and lightning protection systems.
  • Building communications and safety systems experience is a plus.
  • CAD experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation is a plus.
Federal Government Clearance

It is a plus if the candidate has an Active Department of Energy "L" or "Q" Clearance. This position may require the ability to obtain a government clearance, along with drug testing and background investigation by the federal government.
