Overview
Senior Electrical Engineer position at Smiths Interconnect, a Molex company, in Irving, Texas.
Our Team
Provides engineering expertise in assigned areas to ensure that all products are designed, procured, and built in accordance with customer and company quality requirements for sales growth and profitability.
What You Will Do
- Design and develop new products and redesign existing products to meet customer needs and specifications.
- Create and update product design guidelines, customer standards, and analytical reports as assigned.
- Provide technical support to internal stakeholders (Production, Quality, Marketing and Sales) and external customers.
- Participate in the development of product and technology roadmaps in support of cross-functional stakeholders.
- Prepare technical proposals and presentations to support customers, sales representatives, and lead design reviews.
- Conduct patent assessments and prepare technical documents for filing new patents.
- Investigate and suggest solutions to the Engineering Manager or Director related to product issues.
- Interface with suppliers to evaluate component specifications, new manufacturing techniques, and/or new materials.
- Comply with and participate in Smiths Interconnect's EHS programs, policies, procedures and training requirements.
- Participate and contribute to team training, development, mentoring, and audits.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior-level technologists.
- Demonstrate behaviors consistent with company policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent; at least 4 years of post-graduate experience.
- Knowledge of engineering mechanics, material properties, physics and manufacturing methods.
- Knowledge of electrical theories especially in signal transmission, characterization and signal integrity.
- Familiar with the effects of mechanical component design on electrical functions/performance.
- Experience with SolidWorks 3D modeling software or equivalent; understanding of GD&T and ANSI/ASME standards.
- Experience with Six Sigma or equivalent tools and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) preferred.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (structural, thermal & fluid) preferred.
- Experience with electromagnetic (EM) and RF simulations preferred.
- Experience with IC test sockets or electrical connector designs is a plus.
- Attention to detail, self-directed and able to work under normal supervision.
- Ability to analyze complex problems using a data-driven approach and define solutions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident is required (ITAR compliance) for U.S. sites.
