Job summary

CTS Complete Technical Services seeks a Lead Electrical Engineer to oversee a group of engineers and designers and to interface with the PM team to ensure electrical delivery on schedule and within budget.

The successful candidate will perform calculations, apply NEC, NFPA, IEEE codes, develop estimates, requisitions and PO packages, and provide input to the design team on deliverables.

Qualifications

  • BSEE from an accredited college or university.
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Licensed PE required or actively pursuing licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with PM and discipline management to align execution with standards, practices, and procedures.
  • Prepare, review and approve (PE seal) of one lines, load lists, system calculations, schematics, data sheets, requisitions, and technical bid analysis.
  • Develop lighting, grounding, and power plans with cable schedules, panel schedules, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Develop hazardous area classification drawings in conjunction with the process safety group.
  • Generate requisitions, technical bid tabs, and PO packages for electrical equipment, and with expediting after orders are placed.
  • Develop material and man-hour estimates; provide input to project schedule and progression.

Job description

The candidate will be the lead engineer on projects and oversee a group of engineers and designers. They will interface with the PM team to ensure that electrical is delivered on schedule and budget meeting the organization's and client standards. They will perform calculations, apply applicable codes, and apply sound engineering practices to electrical designs. In addition to generating standard electrical deliverables, the candidate will develop estimates, track progress, generate requisition and PO packages. The candidate will also provide input to the design team on deliverable generation.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with the project management and discipline management to ensure that execution of work coincides the company standard practices and procedures.
  • Prepare, review and Approval (PE Seal) of one lines, load list, system calculations, sizing calculations, schematics, equipment specifications, data sheets, requisitions, and technical bid analysis.
  • Work with design team to develop lighting, grounding, and power plans along with cable schedules, panel schedules, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Develop hazardous area classification drawings in conjunction with the process safety group
  • Work with procurement to generate requisitions, technical bid tabs, and PO packages for electrical equipment, and with expediting after orders are placed.
  • Develop material and man hour estimates
  • Provide input into the project schedule and progressing
  • Interface with other disciplines for a coordinated design

Required Skills:
  • Perform calculations using ETAP/SKM and write reports
  • Apply NEC, NFPA, IEEE and other applicable codes to the design
  • Specify high, medium, and low voltage electrical equipment
  • Must be able to read P&IDs
  • Ability to lead and interact with engineers and designers and set clear work expectations
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to manage, scope, schedule, and budget on project(s)
  • Familiar with electrical construction techniques, installation practices and commissioning
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • PDF editing software (Bluebeam)
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams)
Education and Experience:
  • BSEE from an accredited college or university
  • 10 + years’ experience in electrical engineering
  • Licensed PE required. Must be working towards PE licensure if not already obtained.
Physical Requirements:
  • The person in this position must be able to travel to job sites and move about the job to collect data for projects.
  • The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access files, use copy machine, printer, and other office productivity equipment.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Safety:
  • Follow all company and client operating procedures, standards, policies, and training to ensure safe and efficient operation on the site.
  • Actively participate in the the organization's safety program by correcting or reporting unsafe acts and/or conditions
