Job summary

Pragmatic in Houston is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to own board-level electronics across a portfolio of medical device programs. You will design analog, digital and mixed-signal circuits, drive schematic capture and PCB layout in Altium, and work closely with firmware to deliver compliant, manufacturable products.

You will lead EMC/IEC 60601 compliance, handle verification/validation, and guide designs into manufacturing. On-site role with relocation support for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years end-to-end board design experience.
• Strong PCB and circuit design; Altium preferred.
• Analogs, digital and mixed-signal design with low-power hardware.
• Experience in regulated industries (medical, aerospace, etc.).
• Able to commute to or relocate to Houston, TX 77045; on-site.

Responsibilities

• Design analog, digital and mixed-signal circuits for active medical devices and client projects.

• Develop low-power, battery-powered designs around a microprocessor with strong signal integrity.

About the role

Be the electrical engineering authority at a company whose devices genuinely change lives.

A well-established medical device company in south Houston is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to own board-level electronics design across a varied portfolio of real programs. With 25+ years bringing devices to market across neurosurgery, oncology, orthopedics and diagnostics, including a system later acquired by a major medical-device company, they build active medical devices and also provide product development consulting. No two projects look the same. Current work includes a new generation of wearables aimed at turning serious diagnoses into conditions patients can live with for longer.

You won't be one engineer handed a slice of a project. You'll own designs end to end, from schematic through to a compliant, manufacturable product. You'll work directly with the CEO and build out the electrical function (libraries, methods and standards) as the team grows.

Requirements

• Senior-level, end-to-end board design experience (8+ years).
• Strong PCB and circuit design; Altium preferred.
• Expert analog, digital and mixed-signal design, plus low-power, microprocessor-based hardware.
• Background in a regulated, paperwork-heavy industry (medical, aerospace, defense, industrial or energy; open on sector).
• Able to reliably commute to, or relocate to, Houston, TX 77045 before starting (required). Fully on-site.
