Job description

Senior Electrical Engineer - Rotorcraft Mission Equipment

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to play a key technical role in the design, integration, qualification, and certification of electrical systems supporting mission equipment installations on rotorcraft platforms.

In this senior-level position, you will take ownership of electrical system architecture and integration activities throughout the complete product lifecycle — from initial concept and design through certification, production, and in-service support.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, suppliers, customers, and certification stakeholders while providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the electrical design and integration of mission equipment on rotorcraft platforms.
  • Develop electrical system architectures, interfaces, and installation concepts in accordance with operational, customer, and airworthiness requirements.
  • Design and integrate aircraft power distribution, circuit protection, grounding, bonding, wiring harnesses, connectors, and electrical interfaces.
  • Perform electrical load analyses, voltage-drop calculations, wire sizing, power-quality assessments, and circuit-protection selection.
  • Develop and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cable-routing layouts, connector definitions, wire lists, and installation documentation.
  • Define electrical interface requirements and collaborate with systems, mechanical, avionics, software, manufacturing, and certification teams.
  • Lead equipment integration while addressing EMI/EMC, lightning protection, HIRF, environmental, maintainability, and accessibility requirements.
  • Support laboratory integration, ground testing, environmental qualification, EMI/EMC testing, and flight-test activities.
  • Investigate integration issues, manufacturing non-conformances, and in-service failures through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and participate in technical reviews, qualification activities, and equipment acceptance.
  • Support certification activities and ensure compliance with applicable civil and/or military airworthiness requirements.
  • Lead technical design reviews and provide guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers.
  • Contribute to proposals, technical risk assessments, project planning, and customer technical reviews.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 8–12+ years of aerospace engineering experience, including aircraft or rotorcraft electrical system integration.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating mission equipment or mission systems on civil or military aircraft.
  • Strong expertise in:
  • Aircraft electrical power distribution and protection
  • Wiring and harness design
  • Grounding and bonding
  • Cable routing and connector definition
  • Electrical load analysis
  • Electrical installation practices
  • Experience preparing aircraft electrical installation packages, wiring diagrams, and related engineering documentation.
  • Proficiency with ECAD/electrical design tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or equivalent.
  • Experience with electrical system verification, troubleshooting, qualification, and certification.
  • Strong analytical, technical leadership, communication, and project coordination skills.

Assets

Experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas would be considered a strong asset:

  • Aircraft communication and data buses, including ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, CAN bus, Ethernet, and serial interfaces
  • DO-254 hardware development guidance
  • FAA Part 27/29 or EASA CS-27/29
  • Military airworthiness requirements
  • EMI/EMC qualification, lightning protection, and HIRF compliance
  • AS9100 and aerospace configuration management
  • Supplier technical management and customer certification activities

Your Role as a Technical Leader

Beyond your engineering responsibilities, you will act as a technical authority for electrical integration across assigned programs.

You will lead design reviews, make critical technical decisions, mentor less-experienced engineers, and represent the electrical engineering function during customer meetings, supplier exchanges, certification reviews, and program design reviews.

You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering methodologies and standards while balancing safety, technical performance, certification, manufacturability, schedule, and cost.

Interested?

If you have strong aerospace electrical integration experience and want to take technical ownership of complex rotorcraft mission-equipment programs, we’d like to hear from you.
