Qualifications

  • Familiarity with IEEE, EPRI, ISA, IAEA Codes and Standards.
  • Must be able to obtain unescorted access to a U.S. Nuclear Power Plant.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to interface with project teams.

Job description

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Supervising Engineer to lead a team of controls engineers and designers for a nuclear power plant located in the Detroit or Toledo area. This on‑site role provides continuous on‑site support to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective operation of electrical systems within the plant. You will oversee daily activities, mentor your team, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Additionally, you will support multiple projects and coordinate activities with clients, contractors, vendors, and other project team members.

Responsibilities
  • Oversight and approval of Engineering Change Packages, including the following components:
    • Equipment specifications, data sheets, calculations, and analyses required to support the design and configuration control process.
    • Equipment specifications encompass transformers, switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS/DC), communication systems, as well as digital and process instrumentation and control system components.
    • Calculations involve electrical studies such as short circuit analysis, voltage drop assessments, coordination studies, and arc flash studies using ETAP software.
    • Electrical and Instrumentation Control (I&C) design documents include single line diagrams, panel schedules, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, electrical physical drawings, raceway drawings, lighting and grounding plans, and cable schedules.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include reviewing proposals, schedules, and budgets; monitoring and reporting on budget and schedule performance; and providing technical leadership to engineers and designers within the Electrical/I&C discipline.
Education
  • BS in Electrical Engineering
Qualifications
  • 8+ years overall experience in design electrical and I&C systems for power plants or heavy industrial facilities.
  • 5 years of experience in electrical and I&C system design for nuclear plants in North America.
  • Familiarity with the nuclear standard design process, and experience preparing engineering drawings including but not limited to wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Familiarity with IEEE, EPRI, ISA and IAEA Codes and Standards and NRC Reg Guides relating to nuclear plant licensing and design.
  • Good written and oral communication skills. Must be able to interface with other members of the project team, including other disciplines, clients, contractors and vendors.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Teams.
  • Must be able to obtain unescorted access to a U.S. Nuclear Power Plant, including Fitness for Duty requirements.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License in any state in the U.S. with ability to obtain licensures in other states by comity.
