Job Summary

Leonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer. This position is based out of our Goleta, CA facility and will have the option to work in person or on a hybrid schedule. The candidate will participate with or lead a group of engineers on various system integration programs and technical activities, ensuring completion of these activities on time and within budget. The role involves designing, developing, analyzing, documenting, and supporting testing of leading‑edge products, systems, and subsystems in our modern facilities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, modify, and analyze various electronics systems, including hardware, power engineering, power electronic engineering, electromagnetic engineering, integrated circuit engineering, components, or others.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in existing products or systems and make modifications as needed; compile and evaluate design and test data.
  • Lead a group of engineers on a technical activity and ensure completion on time and within budget.
  • Use computer‑aided engineering or other design/analysis software to support assignments.
  • Review customer specifications and requirements; develop designs to support them, with cost as a key variable.
  • Provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments.
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services.
  • Drive program design toward cost and design‑for‑manufacture requirements.
  • Develop prototypes to retire key development risks.
  • Communicate clearly in written and oral form with company personnel and customers as required.
  • Participate in proposal preparation.
  • Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel.
  • Lead and direct the work of others as assigned.
  • Support, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
  • Attend appropriate engineering, customer, or business meetings.
  • Lead less‑experienced engineers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience designing and maintaining System Interface Control Documents (ICD).
  • Ability to determine the hardware compatibility of a system.
  • Knowledge of and experience with engineering drawing applications (experience with CANVAS is a plus).
  • Knowledge of and experience with circuit simulation applications.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Circuit Card CAD applications (experience with ALTIUM is a plus).
  • Experience with electrical systems design and strong mechanical aptitude is a plus.
  • Ability to lead a technical group independently.

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.

The salary range for this position is $93,121.00/year to $125,713.00/year in the state of California. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Additional pay may be influenced by factors such as contract labor categories, local or market conditions, and internal equity. Employees may be eligible for annual performance‑based bonuses, equity awards, and overtime pay (for non‑exempt employees as applicable). The benefits package includes comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision), employer matching 401(k) retirement plan, paid time off including vacation, holidays, and sick leave, parental leave benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional development support, and life and disability insurance coverage.
