Job description

Join our dynamic team at the Otis Service Center in Bloomfield, CT, where we are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and results-oriented Senior Electrical Engineer to leverage your expertise in electrical and embedded software technology to enhance our service parts and upgrade businesses.

On a typical day you will:

  • Develop hardware and software for elevator control systems, such as human-machine interfaces, power electronics (drives), and door operators.
  • Design and maintain test processes, including hardware, software, and documentation, to evaluate electrical hardware performance.
  • Conduct calculations, estimations, and lab tests to verify designs.
  • Assist in creating manufacturing drawings for new parts and products.
  • Lead investigations into field issues and conduct root cause failure analysis for electrical and electronic components.
  • Collaborate with the electronics repair shop to provide feedback to engineering, ensuring a robust feedback loop for design improvements.
  • Advocate for customer needs in new product development to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure parts availability, quality, and sourcing for internal and contract manufacturers. Drive dual sourcing and cost-saving initiatives. Prepare specifications, design functional test equipment, and support related initiatives.
  • Develop replacement solutions for obsolete or hard-to-find components. Research legacy designs and listen to customer feedback to determine new design requirements that ensure backwards compatibility, improved quality, and enhanced features.
  • Create and update spare parts information and documents to support field operations and OSC Customer Service.

What you will need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or related field or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in Embedded Hardware, Software and Firmware design
  • Internships/CO-OP's
  • Proficient in analog/digital design, power electronics, and serial communication interfaces (RS422/RS485/CAN). Skilled in signal integrity, sensor signal conditioning, and battery backup/UPS systems
  • Experienced in embedded design languages such as C, VB.NET, C#, C++, Assembly, and MATLAB. Deep understanding of communication protocols like SPI, I2C, I2S, UART, CAN, and USB
  • Direct experience designing custom microprocessor/DSP-based boards for interfaces like buttons, touch screens, and LCD TFT displays
  • Fluent in electrical engineering CAD tools such as Altium, OrCAD, KiCAD, or EAGLE
  • In-depth familiarity with lab instruments and test equipment, including oscilloscopes, curve tracers, and logic analyzers
  • Capable of mentoring junior engineers, leading critical design reviews, and improving departmental processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
