Qualifications

  • Utilize CAD software as part of the design and development process.
  • Perform functional tests on electronic assemblies and document results.
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues during product development.

Job description

TransCore-Amtech Systems (AMS), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full-time Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer designs, develops, and tests all aspects of electrical components, equipment, and systems. Performs routine RF and antenna specific design tasks associated with the development of new products or sustaining existing products. May mentor more junior engineers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Design, test, and evaluate UHF and microwave direct-conversion transmitters and I/Q receivers for RFID backscatter systems, including synthesizers, modulators, ALCs, power amplifiers, receiver front ends, and I/Q demodulators.
  • Utilizes computer aided design software as an integral part of the design and development process.
  • Performs functional tests on relevant electronic assemblies and documents results.
  • Assists in troubleshooting issues that arise from product development.
  • Research component specifications for use in designs.
  • Provides estimates of task duration.
Requirements and Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Typically requires 10-13 years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Extensive knowledge of RF test equipment, including spectrum and network analyzers.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, testing, hardware design, interfacing, and configuration skills.
  • Systems/software integration and support experience, including technical documentation.
  • Antenna design and development experience.
  • Thorough understanding and design experience with synthesizers, modulators, ALC loops, power amplifiers, receiver front ends, and I/Q demodulators.
  • HFSS experience preferred.
  • Mentor PADS/DxDesigner experience for schematic capture preferred.
