Job summary

System One is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer in Charlotte, NC to lead electrical design for power, transmission, and industrial projects. You will direct technical work and mentor junior designers on complex raceway, lighting, grounding, and power facility layouts.

The role requires NEC knowledge, CAD proficiency (AutoCAD or MicroStation), and willingness to travel between office and field sites. Direct hire with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12+ years of electrical design experience in power and power infrastructure projects.
• Experience in Senior or Lead Electrical Designer roles.
• Strong knowledge of raceway systems, grounding and bonding, lighting, and power facilities.

• Support procurement activities, including vendor coordination and submittal reviews.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design practices, standards, and processes.

Job Title: Senior Electrical Designer

Location: Charlotte, NC

Type: Direct Hire

Compensation: $150,000.00 - $170,000.00

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design activities and provide technical direction within the electrical discipline for power , transmission, and industrial projects.
• Plan, execute, and review advanced electrical design scopes, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Serve as technical lead and design checker, mentoring junior designers and supporting constructability, field execution, and project delivery.
• Coordinate electrical design activities with engineering, construction, and other disciplines to ensure seamless project execution.
• Design and lay out complex electrical systems, including raceway systems (underground ductbanks, cable tray, conduit, supports), lighting systems (interior, exterior, roadway, area), and grounding and bonding systems.
• Participate in design reviews, constructability evaluations, and client meetings.
• Provide field support through site visits, field verifications, redline, as-built documentation, and retrofit evaluations.
• Support procurement activities, including vendor coordination, submittal reviews, and installation support.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of design practices, standards, and processes.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Associate Degree with appropriate drafting and design coursework
• Minimum 12+ years of electrical design experience, particularly in power and/or power infrastructure projects
• Experience serving in a Senior or Lead Electrical Designer role
• Strong working knowledge of electrical raceway systems, grounding and bonding, lighting systems, and power facility environments
• Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD tools, including AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
• Working knowledge of the Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable power industry standards
• Ability to work independently while providing leadership, guidance, and technical direction to others
• Willingness to travel and work in both office and field environments
