Job description

Senior Electrical Designer

We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Designer to join our team. As part of the team, your core responsibility will be to provide detailed electrical design drawings and support the project team from a technical perspective.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderately to difficult drafting assignments using established drafting techniques, standards, practices and software, and apply company procedures to the electrical discipline.
• Oversee the preparation of design and detail drawings from sketches, plans, or other design/specification data.
• Design and draft HV and LV electrical installations, and take responsibility for the submitted drawings.
• Direct the work of junior designers, ensuring drawings meet client requirements and project specifications.
• Participate in design reviews with clients and advise on technical design and drafting issues and compliance requirements as appropriate.
• Demonstrate a proven track record of completing work scopes within time and budget constraints.
• Develop layouts, plans, sections, elevations, and details for facilities, equipment, etc., from reference drawings or catalogues, and perform routine calculations.
• Perform dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings and record and file electrical discipline documents.
• Ensure compliance with the Quality Assurance system and relevant project guidelines.

What you will bring

Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements

• A Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering / Design / Drafting with 5+ years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SPEL, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and AVEVA 2D/3D.
• Experience with SP3D, PDMS, PDS, EERWAY 3D CAD systems and participation in 3D model reviews.
• Specialization in detailed drawings for lighting, small power and earthing systems, HV/LV single‑line diagrams, wiring and control schematic diagrams, AC/DC distribution panels, process area electrical equipment layouts, substation and switchyard layouts, cable tray, above‑grade and underground cable layouts, duct bank sizing and layouts, installation details, grounding plans, and lightning layouts.
• Cable schedules, cable pulling calculations, cable tray sizing calculations, cable selection & sizing calculations.
• Lighting calculations using software such as AGI32, DiaLux, etc.

Additional Information

• Location: California
• Salary: Hourly $44.30 – $65.14
