Job summary

James Gray Recruitment is assisting an established engineering consultancy in Boston to hire a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for the Building Services team. You will lead electrical design packages from concept through construction, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to deliver robust, energy-conscious solutions.

The role offers hybrid working arrangements, exposure to life sciences, healthcare, education, and commercial projects, and pathways

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical/Architectural Engineering or related field.
• Significant experience designing electrical building services in consulting.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, energy codes, and US standards.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design of building services systems including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
• Manage projects from concept through construction administration, meeting quality, schedule, and budget targets.
• Produce engineering calculations, reports, specs, and construction documents.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary designs with MEP, structural, and architectural teams.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Attend and lead client meetings and design workshops.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs, site inspections, and support construction-phase services.
• Develop energy-efficient, code-compliant solutions.
• Maintain strong client relationships and seek repeat business opportunities.
