Job summary

InCharge Energy seeks an Electrical Design Engineer III in Richmond, VA to help design EV fleet infrastructure, advance charging products and systems, and ensure compliance with NFPA/NEC and UL standards.

You will perform electrical calculations, convert field sketches into construction packages, and collaborate across teams to optimize processes while mentoring junior designers. This is a full-time on-site role with room for growth.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in electrical design, planning and construction services.
• Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and EV charging integration with solar projects.
• Hands-on experience using design and calculation software.
• Experience designing to NFPA-70: NEC.
• Deep knowledge of electrical manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of electrical engineering codes and safety standards.
• AutoCad experience required.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• PE registration in at least two states; willingness to obtain more.

Responsibilities

• Provide design, review, and analysis of EV charging infrastructure projects.
• Manage engineering designs to schedule.
• Ensure installations meet customer needs and safety standards.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to apply new system processes.
• Perform quality and performance analysis on new and legacy depots.
• Summarize data and report on test results.
• Examine needs on new equipment, estimate costs and assist budgets.
• Monitor maintenance and inspection plans.
• Mentor and train designers.
