Job summary

WMFHA is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to handle a wide range of routine maintenance, including electrical, data, and groundskeeping tasks. The role supports daily operations by maintaining building appearance and exterior infrastructure, while ensuring safety and compliance across facilities.

The position requires experience with electrical systems, data cabling, and preventative maintenance, plus the ability to read blueprints and work with IT coordination for network drops.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or apprenticeship in electrical systems preferred
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in electrical and/or low-voltage/data systems
  • Working knowledge of electrical codes and structured cabling standards
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Ability to work independently or part of a team
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Child Abuse Clearance; Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including lighting, panels, circuits, and outlets
  • Responsible for 120/208/277 volt 3 phase 4 wire systems
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform corrective repairs in a timely manner
  • Replace ballasts, drivers, fixtures, and other electrical components
  • Assist with load balancing and minor electrical upgrades
  • Install and maintain data cabling (Cat5e/Cat6), patch panels, and network drops
  • Knowledge of Cat5e and Cat6e cable and how to install RJ45 jacks, punch cables on a 110 and 66 block
  • Telecommunications data cable pulls, patch panels, and perform testing
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues in coordination with IT staff
  • Oversee telecommunications data cable pulls for Third Party Providers when applicable
  • Mounting of rack and wireless access ports (WAPS)
  • Support low-voltage systems such as access control, intercoms, and security cameras
  • Maintain cable organization and labeling standards
  • Conduct routine inspections of electrical and data systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and failures
  • Maintain documentation of repairs and system updates
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs across building systems including plumbing, lighting, fixtures, and general wear-and-tear items
  • Complete work orders related to facility upkeep in a timely and efficient manner
  • Assist skilled trades (electrical, HVAC, carpentry) with projects and repairs as needed
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and potential issues
  • Maintain outdoor areas including lawns, landscaping, parking lots, sidewalks, and athletic or recreational spaces
  • Perform mowing, trimming, edging, planting, mulching, and seasonal clean-up
  • Remove snow and ice from walkways, entrances, and parking areas; apply salt or de-icing materials as needed
  • Maintain exterior appearance of buildings including litter removal and minor exterior repairs
  • Assist with preventative maintenance programs for both interior and exterior areas
  • Monitor and maintain tools and equipment used for maintenance and groundskeeping
  • Report major repair needs or safety concerns to facilities leadership
  • Follow all safety procedures related to equipment operation, chemical use, and maintenance tasks
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards and organizational policies
  • Identify and address hazards to maintain a safe work environment
  • Operate groundskeeping and maintenance equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, snow removal equipment, and basic hand/power tools
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition and report malfunctions
  • Assist with facility setups, moves, and event support as needed
  • Respond to urgent maintenance and grounds-related issues
  • Support other facilities functions as assigned
  • Conduct daily building walkthroughs
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities, systems, and equipment
  • Support and execute preventative maintenance program
  • Comply with safe work practices
  • Respond to facility-related emergencies as needed
  • Assist with maintaining inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Follow school policy, procedures, and work rules
  • Requirement to work on-site five days per week and on inclement weather days
  • Fosters a positive work culture that encourages collaboration, creativity, and accountability
  • Demonstrated professional behavior, including discretion, good judgment and integrity
  • Respond promptly to facility requests
  • Work collaboratively with others in a diverse and inclusive environment
  • Must be available for emergency facilities calls outside of normal business hours as required

  • May be required to work outside normal office hours as required
  • Perform any additional duties deemed necessary by the Director of Facilities
