Job summary

Search Leaders is seeking a senior controls engineer in the Plymouth, MN area to lead the development and execution of sophisticated electrical control systems and to mentor a growing team toward engineering management. You will guide design, PLC/ HMI programming, and field commissioning while coordinating with project teams.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in controls, ABET-accredited BS, and strong leadership capabilities. Domestic/international travel ~5–10% is expected.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Computer Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 10+ years electrical controls experience with a bachelor’s degree or 7+ years with a master’s degree.
• Demonstrated design expertise with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and motor controllers.
• Proven leadership capabilities including mentoring and coaching across levels.
• Ability to foster a collaborative, accountable team environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead concept development and design for complex electrical control systems.
• Direct documentation, schematics, panel design, PLC/ HMI programming, installation, and commissioning.
• Foster a collaborative engineering culture focused on improvement and knowledge sharing.
• Coordinate with engineering, PM teams, and external stakeholders to deliver projects.
• Develop and maintain processes aligning engineering with industry standards and quality.
