Job summary

Search Leaders, LLC is seeking a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer in Plymouth, MN. You will lead the development of complex electrical control systems, including PLC/HMI programming, panel design, and field commissioning, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery.

You will mentor engineers, manage budgets and schedules, champion ITAR compliance, and uphold safety and quality standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR due to access to export-controlled data.
  • 10+ years of electrical controls experience with a bachelor’s degree (7+ years with a master).
  • ABET-accredited degree(s) in Electrical/Systems/Computer eng.
  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and motor controllers.
  • Proven leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional team experience.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (5–10%).

Responsibilities

  • Lead concept development and engineering design for complex electrical control systems.
  • Direct and contribute to design docs, schematics, panel design, PLC/HMI programming, field installation, and commissioning.
  • Foster a collaborative environment focused on accountability, improvement, and knowledge sharing.
  • Coordinate across disciplines and stakeholders for successful project delivery.
  • Develop and maintain processes aligning engineering with standards and quality.
  • Drive initiatives to improve team efficiency and control costs.

Position Responsibilities:

This senior engineering role leads the development and execution of sophisticated electrical control systems while building the leadership, project management, and team coordination capabilities needed for advancement into engineering management.

  • Lead concept development and engineering design for complex electrical control systems.
  • Direct and contribute to design documentation, schematics, electrical panel design, PLC and HMI programming, field installation, and project commissioning.
