Job summary

Insight Global in Battle Creek, MI is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to own automation and machine design projects from concept through implementation. You will serve as the technical lead throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities include designing automated manufacturing and material handling equipment, creating electrical schematics, developing PLC, HMI, servo, safety, and robotic programs, and supporting equipment procurement through detailed specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related engineering discipline.
• 3-5+ years of industrial controls engineering experience.
• Experience owning projects from design through startup and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Design automated manufacturing and material handling equipment.
• Create electrical schematics and develop PLC, HMI, servo, safety, and robotic programs.
• Support equipment procurement through detailed specifications.
• Possibly perform design and programming on desk or hands-on on the manufacturing floor.
• Troubleshoot electrical/design issues during startup and commissioning; debug programs; refine system performance.
• Coordinate with mechanical, manufacturing and leadership teams; manage schedules and budgets.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and efficiency.
