A leading agency is seeking a Senior Electrical Control & Instrumentation Project Engineer to oversee projects within the Minor New Works Team. This remote position requires extensive project management experience in EC&I engineering, with regulatory knowledge and the ability to lead a small team to ensure compliance and timely delivery. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills and must be able to travel to UK sites regularly.
Senior Electrical Control & Instrumentation Project Engineer
(Location: Remote / Home based)
The role: OPA are looking to appoint a new Senior EC&I Project Engineer, to act as the Project Lead within the MNW (Minor New Works) Project Team for the OPA.
This pivotal role will provide the conduit between the MNW Project Teams and the EC&I Engineers and SMEs (Subject Matter Experts). With responsibility for providing the EC&I support within the MNW Project Teams, and to lead and supervise a small team of EC&I Engineers, Contractors, and or Consultants, to oversee multiple EC&I Engineering tasks associated with projects or engineering works across the OPA’s facilities. Ensuring that all aspects of work are executed on time and to budget/estimates and in full compliance with company standards and applicable legislation.
The ability to prioritise complex and concurrent work activities is essential and the job entails overseeing professional contract engineers or consultant companies, who conduct activities on various engineering project works on behalf of OPA.
It is important that the post holder gains creditability and is capable of building and maintaining strong working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, operations, other engineering colleagues, and specific regulatory bodies including our MoD (Ministry of Defence) Sponsors.
Travel to our UK sites will be a regular feature of this role, with some overnight stays. Therefore, a full (preferably clean) driving licence is essential for the successful candidate. There will also be occasional overseas travel when required.

The candidate: Candidates must hold a relevant Degree in Electrical, or Control & Instrumentation, and be Chartered or working towards Chartership with the relevant Institution. You must be able to demonstrate significant project management experience, preferably within a COMAH regulated industry/operation.
You’ll need to have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a disciplined EC&I Engineer, working and leading with onsite Engineering Projects Teams and contractors, with proven experience around coordination and delivery of multiple Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineering Projects, monitoring progress against time and budget.
