New Flyer in Alabama is seeking an Engineering Lead to align stakeholder efforts with our strategic goals and drive proactive risk management across design, production, and service phases.

The role focuses on cross-functional leadership, technical credibility, and delivery of on-time milestones, with responsibilities spanning supplier interactions, design reviews, and process optimization. Travel to Canada is required (<15%).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or CET designation.
• Minimum 5+ years in a related engineering or project leadership role.
• 3+ years technical experience internal to NFI/MCI.
• Advanced technical and project management capabilities.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with NX, Teamcenter, Oracle, ePlanner, Excel, and A3 reporting.
• Willingness to travel to Canada (<15%).

Responsibilities

• Review customer specifications to identify gaps and provide risk details to Bids & Sales.
• Represent Production Engineering in vendor interactions and evaluate supplier quotes at bid stage.
• Provide technical guidance to engineering teams based on customer specs.
• Identify project risks and initiate validation to meet standards and regulations.
• Manage New Design Integration projects with SMART goals and KPI tracking.
• Review and approve Engineering Change Notification packages to ensure deadlines are met.
• Manage engineering ANDON postings and respond to issues.
• Prepare and submit supplier approvals, drawings, test reports, and signoffs.
• Coordinate release and tracking of approval drawings to customers.
• Collaborate on design issues and support Change Requests and alternate sourcing.
• Liaise between Engineering and other departments (e.g., PM, Vehicle Apps, Sourcing, Production, Quality, Service).
• Approve Option Value forms with configuration group and VAE to optimize designs.
• Support training, mentorship, and succession planning in Engineering Services.
• Support design standardization across Sales, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain.
• Identify design improvements and present to Change Control Board.
