Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Senior Commissioning & Startup Electrical Engineer to lead electrical commissioning, testing, energization, and turnover on major industrial projects across North America. The role requires coordinating with engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure safe, compliant startup and operational readiness.

The ideal candidate will have a strong Electrical Engineering background, 10+ years of related experience, and the ability to travel and relocate to project sites

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive electrical engineering, commissioning, startup, operations, maintenance, or industrial project experience.
• Experience with electrical testing, startup, energization activities.
• Strong understanding of N, N+1, and 2N architectures.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute electrical pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, testing, turnover, and operational readiness activities.
• Develop and review commissioning procedures, startup plans, energization plans, test scripts, and turnover documentation.
• Lead electrical testing activities (FWT, SAT, FPT, IST) across projects.
• Support energization planning, readiness reviews, switching plans, risk assessments, and contingency planning.
• Validate system performance against design intent and project requirements.
• Coordinate with engineering, construction, operations, vendors, and commissioning teams to support startup objectives.
