Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Senior Electrical Certification & Qualification Engineer to lead evaluation, qualification, testing, and certification of high‑amperage power distribution components for industrial chillers. You will drive qualification strategies, coordinate with UL and labs, and advise on feasibility and risks of alternate sourcing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of experience with low‑voltage power distribution and protection equipment.
• Experience qualifying, testing, certifying, or developing high‑amperage circuit breakers, ideally in the 10002‑0000A range.
• Strong knowledge of UL certification processes, standards, and testing methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead for certification and qualification of high-current electrical power distribution and protection devices used in industrial chiller systems.
• Develop comprehensive qualification strategies for molded‑case and insulated‑case circuit breakers, large disconnect switches, fuse blocks and fuse holders.
• Evaluate alternate-source electrical components and determine their suitability for deployment within existing product platforms.
• Assess risks related to component substitutions, including impacts on UL listings and certifications.
• Define clear qualification paths for non-listed or alternate-source components, including internationally sourced products.
• Act as the primary technical interface with UL, certification bodies, and high-power test laboratories.
• Develop, document, and execute detailed test plans to achieve component‑level or system‑level certification.
• Interpret UL standards to identify certification requirements for substitutions and alternate sourcing.
