Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from an accredited college or technical school and 2+ years of relevant experience
• Experience with Allen Bradley/Rockwell automation
• Programming experience
• RS Logix 5000 experience
• Ability to work a 12 hour rotating schedule and night shifts
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret electrical schematics, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical procedures, governmental regulations, and procedure manuals in English
• Ability to write routine reports, procedural manuals, and correspondence in English
• Ability to effectively present information to internal/external stakeholders
• Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
• Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics helpful

Responsibilities

• Decode electrical schematics and manuals to troubleshoot and maintain equipment
• Solve automation and robotics software issues to optimize processes
• Resolve PLC and touchscreen hardware issues to minimize downtime
• Assist with network troubleshooting and resolve control networking issues
• Collaborate with IT to maintain servers and ensure uninterrupted operations
• Identify and drive automation improvements for efficiency and reliability
• Partner with management and engineering on projects
• Create user manuals and training materials
• Mentor maintenance technicians with hands-on training
• Own and organize electrical/automation documentation
• Provide technical leadership and support to maintenance staff
• Use tools like a multimeter, PC, and software to diagnose issues

Overview

An established manufacturing facility is seeking a Senior Electrical Automation Technician to strengthen and maintain its electrical control systems. This role sits at the center of the plant's automation strategy, covering everything from initial setup and programming to ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting, and plays a key part in shaping the facility's long-term technology roadmap.

What you'll do

• Decode complex electrical schematics and user manuals to troubleshoot and maintain equipment and keep operations running smoothly


• Solve automation and robotics software issues using advanced problem-solving skills to optimize processes


• Resolve PLC and touchscreen hardware issues to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency


• Assist with network troubleshooting and resolve control networking issues to keep systems connected and reliable


• Collaborate with IT to maintain and troubleshoot servers, ensuring uninterrupted operations


• Identify and drive automation improvements that make processes faster, more efficient, and more reliable


• Partner with management and engineering teams, offering insights and consulting on innovative projects


• Create user manuals and training materials to help the team build technical skills


• Mentor maintenance technicians with hands-on training and guidance


• Own the facility's electrical and automation documentation, organizing and backing up programs, schematics, and network information


• Provide technical leadership and support to maintenance technicians


• Use tools such as a multimeter, PC, and software to troubleshoot and diagnose the root cause of electrical issues


• Work with internal and external resources to resolve issues quickly and effectively


• Communicate the status of issues and projects with management, vendors, peers, and production personnel

Required qualifications

• Associate's degree from an accredited college or technical school and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience


• Experience with Allen Bradley/Rockwell automation

• Ability to work a 12 hour rotating schedule and night shifts
