Job summary

Uber is building its AV Labs in Sunnyvale, CA, seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to lead architecture and hardware design for high-performance compute, storage, sensors, and vehicle interfaces. You will own designs from concept through production and mentor engineers in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.

The role emphasizes hands-on circuit design, PCB reviews, bring-up, validation, and collaboration with firmware and software teams to ensure performance, reliability, and smooth

Qualifications

• Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years leading board-level hardware designs from concept to production.
• Electrical Hardware Design Expertise: Deep experience in analog, digital and power electronics, PCB development and validation.
• Technical Leadership & Hardware Development: Mentorship, design reviews, and collaboration with suppliers and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead Electrical Architecture & Hardware Design for high-performance compute, storage, sensors, networking, power distribution, and vehicle electronics.
• Drive Power, High-Speed & SI/PI design, including analysis, simulations, and worst-case assessments for automotive conditions.
• Lead Hardware Bring-Up, debugging, validation, and root-cause analysis of failures with lab measurement techniques.
• Drive Cross-Functional Vehicle Integration with firmware and software teams to define interfaces and meet performance and reliability goals.
• Provide Technical Execution & Production Readiness through architecture and design reviews, DFMEA, and manufacturing collaboration.
