Job summary

ENTRUST Solutions Group in the Chicago area is seeking a Sr. Design Engineer - Electric Distribution to lead overhead and underground distribution design projects. You will coordinate with engineers, project managers, field staff, and clients to move designs from scoping to construction support.

The role requires a minimum of 3+ years in utility or related infrastructure and a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Hybrid schedule and field involvement are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• 3+ years of professional experience in electric utility or related infrastructure projects.
• Ability to work with engineering design principles and coordinate designs independently.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and technical communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop overhead and underground electric distribution designs for residential, commercial, industrial, and system improvement projects.
• Produce complete, construction-ready design packages using AutoCAD and other utility design systems.
• Prepare and review drawings, layouts, specifications, material requirements, cost estimates, and construction documentation.
• Evaluate field conditions and develop practical engineering solutions meeting utility standards.
• Coordinate permitting, rights-of-way, and construction support as required.
• Review designs for technical accuracy, constructability, and client standards.
