Job summary

CACI International seeks a Senior Elasticsearch Engineer to lead advanced search, analytics, and data engineering for mission-critical systems. You will guide architectural decisions, optimize Elasticsearch clusters, and oversee large-scale data workflows in a DoD‑scale environment.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and shape multi‑phase upgrade roadmaps while ensuring security and compliance in complex government settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; experience may substitute.
• Eight+ years of progressive engineering experience including 2+ years hands‑on Elasticsearch work.
• Expertise in Elasticsearch internals, cluster tuning, scaling, and snapshot management.
• Advanced Kibana analytics, scripted fields, pipeline aggregations, alerting, observability.
• Strong SQL/PLSQL plus experience with Oracle or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with AWS S3, RDS, EKS or equivalent cloud platforms.
• Ability to lead technical initiatives and influence architectural direction.
• Willing to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and optimize Elasticsearch clusters, indexes, mappings, and data models at scale.
• Develop dashboards, scripted queries, alerting strategies, and analytics in Kibana.
• Lead ingestion/extraction workflows using Apache NiFi.
• Drive enhancements to the PIEE system.
• Oversee performance tuning, health, resilience, and observability across environments.
• Provide technical leadership within SAFe teams and advise on design and data patterns.
• Apply data security, compliance, and migration best practices.
• Develop upgrade roadmaps and assess API/integration impacts.
• Collaborate with product owners, developers, and cross‑functional teams for safe adoption of new platform capabilities.
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers; establish engineering standards.
• Develop long-term technical roadmaps aligned with mission needs.
