Job summary

MPD, Inc. is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist to design, implement, and manage programs preventing illness, injury and environmental damage.

The role trains employees, conducts inspections, and ensures OSHA and EPA compliance while promoting a culture of safety across the Owensboro site. Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or safety management, 10+ years of safety experience, and OSHA/EHS certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, safety management, or similar is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
• OSHA or similar EHS certification is required.
• Ten or more years of safety-related experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
• Develop and manage safety and hazardous waste handling procedures.
• Plan and implement emergency response processes for the site.
• Educate managers and employees on safety practices (e.g., forklift, fall protection).
• Inspect facilities to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Lead accident investigations and prepare documentation for claims.
