Job summary

Donaldson Company in Missouri is seeking a Senior EHS Specialist to provide advanced support for health, safety, and environmental programs at the Harrisonville site. Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Fire Protection, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment with emphasis on program implementation and training.

Responsibilities

  • Use EHS risk-assessment tools to identify exposures affecting people, property, or the environment.
  • Support development of site EHS targets and objectives to reduce risks and impacts.
  • Facilitate execution of EHS goals for leadership and supervisors to meet site objectives.
  • Implement controls to manage exposures, including lockout procedures, hot work permits, and hazardous waste management.
  • Maintain compliance assurance processes for EHS training, documentation, and preventive maintenance.
  • Engage employee EHS teams to promote ownership of activities and reduce environmental footprint.
  • Conduct and facilitate employee training per the site EHS Compliance Calendar.
  • Manage employee certifications and recertification timelines.
  • Support preventive maintenance for EHS-critical equipment and maintain documentation.
  • Conduct sampling and data collection to demonstrate regulatory compliance.
  • Build cross-functional relationships to improve site EHS performance and accountability.
  • Ensure programs and standards are maintained and the plant stays compliant.
  • Serve as a change agent with leadership and HR to resolve work-related issues.
  • Develop and revise standard work practices to ensure compliance.
  • Comply with all EHS policies and procedures.
  • Travel: Up to 5%.

Position Summary

The Senior EHS Specialist provides advanced support and expertise to prevent health, safety, and environmental hazards across the site. This role implements corporate EHS policies, ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, drives continuous improvement, and strengthens a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. As a senior individual contributor, this position partners closely with site leadership while influencing EHS performance across the facility.

Qualified candidates must be able to work an on-site schedule at our Harrisonville, Missouri office/facility.

Role Responsibilities
  • Use environmental, health, and safety risk‑assessment tools to identify exposures that may impact people, property, or the environment.
  • Support the development of annual site‑level EHS targets and objectives to reduce significant risks and environmental impacts.
  • Facilitate execution of action‑based EHS goals for leadership and supervisors to achieve site‑specific objectives.
  • Implement operational controls to manage exposures identified through risk assessments, including equipment‑specific lockout procedures, hot work permits, and hazardous waste management.
  • Maintain compliance assurance processes to ensure timely completion of EHS‑related training, documentation, and preventive maintenance.
  • Engage employee‑directed EHS teams to promote ownership of activities that support a compliant, incident‑free workplace and reduce environmental footprint.
  • Conduct and facilitate employee training as outlined in the site’s EHS Compliance Calendar, including make‑up sessions as needed.
  • Manage employee certifications and recertification timelines.
  • Support preventive maintenance for EHS‑critical equipment and maintain required documentation.
  • Conduct sampling and data collection to demonstrate compliance with environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain cross‑functional relationships to improve site EHS performance and ensure accountability.
  • Ensure company programs and standards are maintained and the plant remains in compliance.
  • Serve as a change agent by guiding employees, supervisors, and managers in resolving work‑related issues in partnership with the Plant Manager and Human Resources.
  • Develop and revise standard work practices and observe employees to ensure compliance.
  • Comply with all EHS policies and procedures.
  • Travel: Up to 5%
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Fire Protection, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment with emphasis on program implementation and training.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand or sit for extended periods, work at a computer for long durations, and work around loud machinery.

  • Experience leading employee‑driven safety teams or committees.
