Position Summary

The Senior EHS Specialist provides advanced support and expertise to prevent health, safety, and environmental hazards across the site. This role implements corporate EHS policies, ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, drives continuous improvement, and strengthens a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. As a senior individual contributor, this position partners closely with site leadership while influencing EHS performance across the facility. Qualified candidates must be able to work an on-site schedule at our Harrisonville, Missouri office/facility.

Role Responsibilities
  • Use environmental, health, and safetyrisk‑assessmenttools toidentifyexposures that mayimpactpeople, property, or the environment.

  • Support the development of annualsite‑levelEHS targets andobjectivesto reduce significant risks and environmental impacts.

  • Facilitate execution ofaction‑basedEHS goals for leadership and supervisors to achievesite‑specificobjectives.

  • Implement operational controls to manage exposuresidentifiedthrough risk assessments, includingequipment‑specificlockout procedures, hot work permits, and hazardous waste management.

  • Maintain compliance assurance processes to ensuretimelycompletion ofEHS‑relatedtraining, documentation, and preventive maintenance.

  • Engageemployee‑directedEHS teams to promote ownership of activities that support a compliant,incident‑freeworkplace and reduce environmental footprint.

  • Conduct andfacilitateemployee training as outlined in the site’s EHS Compliance Calendar, includingmake‑upsessions as needed.

  • Manage employee certifications and recertification timelines.

  • Support preventive maintenance forEHS‑criticalequipment andmaintainrequired documentation.

  • Conduct sampling and data collection to demonstrate compliance with environmental regulatory requirements.

  • Build andmaintaincross‑functionalrelationships to improve site EHS performance and ensure accountability.

  • Ensure company programs and standards aremaintainedand the plantremainsin compliance.

  • Serve as a change agent by guiding employees, supervisors, and managers in resolvingwork‑relatedissues in partnership with the Plant Manager and Human Resources.

  • Develop and revise standard work practices andobserveemployees to ensure compliance.

  • Comply withall EHS policies and procedures.

Travel

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Fire Protection, Environmental Science, Engineering, ora relateddiscipline.

  • 3+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment with emphasis on program implementation and training.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand or sit for extended periods, work at a computer for long durations, and work around loud machinery.
