Job summary

County of Napa seeks a Senior Environmental Health Specialist to perform advanced regulatory work and lead on the Wells and Onsite Wastewater (WOW) program. The role includes reviewing wastewater systems, issuing permits, and supervising staff as needed to protect public health.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in sciences, 2 years’ regulatory experience, CA EH Specialist certification, and a valid CA Driver’s license. Employment is full-time with county benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological or physical sciences.
• Two years of increasingly responsible experience in environmental health regulation and enforcement.
• Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.
• Certification as Registered Environmental Health Specialist (CA-Dept of Public Health).
• Class C California Driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex enforcement of environmental health laws and regulations.
• Plan and implement specialized programs and provide supervision where needed.
• Review and approve onsite wastewater systems and related permits.
