Job summary

VetJobs seeks an experienced EHS leader to oversee the Environmental, Health, and Safety program for secure facility operations. Lead policy development, risk assessments, training, and regulatory compliance across high security sites in the U.S.

Must have CSP and 10+ years in EHS, with ability to obtain necessary clearances. The role requires strong incident investigation skills, experience with hazardous substances, and the ability to navigate detention facility environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of EHS experience; detention/corrections or heavy industrial preferred.
• CSP required or obtained within 12 months of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain necessary clearances and credentials.
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident; 5 years U.S. residency required.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Ability to adapt to shift changes based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and training.
• Administer hazard communication program, SDS and staff/detainee training.
• Maintain master index of hazardous substances and SDS files.
• Plan, conduct fire drills and life safety exercises across shifts.
• Investigate injuries and near misses; perform root cause analysis.
• Lead incident investigations and corrective action tracking.
• Coordinate PPE programs and equipment accountability.
• Chair Safety Committee; present leading/lagging indicators to leadership.
