Job summary

The Jackson Laboratory is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Leader in California to independently develop, implement, and oversee laboratory-wide EHS programs. You will establish metrics, drive compliance with federal/state/local rules, and partner with research, facilities, and leadership to mitigate risks.

Responsibilities include leading regulatory interactions, conducting investigations, mentoring staff, and driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 years of progressive EHS experience.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Preferred CSP, ASP/GSP, CIH, CHMM or equivalent credential.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and administer complex EHS programs laboratory-wide.
• Lead regulatory inspections and audits; brief senior leadership.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local safety regulations and internal standards.
• Lead investigations and root-cause analysis; track corrective actions.
• Design and deliver employee training programs for assigned area(s).
• Mentor EHS staff and engage stakeholders across departments.
• Represent EHS during emergencies and incidents and coordinate response.
