Job summary

State of Maine Department of Education seeks a professional to plan, develop, coordinate, administer and evaluate statewide educational programs in a specialty area. You will work with local, state, and federal officials to implement programs and evaluate expenditures.

The role involves advising the State Board of Education, coordinating vocational education, and guiding teachers and administrators through training and policy implementation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or required specialty area and four years professional level experience.
• Masters degree may substitute for experience year-for-year.

Responsibilities

• Plan and develop comprehensive educational programs in a specific specialty/subject area.
• Direct and coordinate work of subordinate professional staff.
• Review and evaluate federal/state grant applications.
• Consult with superintendents and school committees on funding and program use.
• Coordinate vocational/technical education programs at secondary/post-secondary and adult levels.
• Advise Commissioner on specialty area information and guidance.
