Job summary

The University of Virginia’s International Studies Office seeks a Senior Education Abroad Advisor & Assistant Director for UVA in Valencia to guide students through education abroad options, manage admissions and program compliance, and promote UVA in Valencia across venues.

Strong communication, intercultural skills, and knowledge of study abroad advising are essential. Experience with Terra Dotta and MS Office is preferred; occasional travel is expected as part of program administration.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required or bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
• Native or near-native fluency in Spanish.
• 4+ years of relevant professional experience, including student advising or program coordination, and experience studying or living abroad in a Spanish-speaking country.
• Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Provide advising, referral, and resources for UVA students interested in education abroad, especially UVA in Valencia.
• Maintain expertise in Higher Education systems of an assigned region and oversee a portfolio of programs and exchanges.
• Develop and promote UVA in Valencia and other assigned programs online, on Grounds, and at education abroad fairs across the U.S.
• Oversee program admissions, enrollment, and credit transfer compliance for UVA in Valencia and other programs.
• Provide pre-departure guidance and manage visa processes and transcripts as needed.
• Maintain relationships with schools, departments, and UVA Valencia administration; supervise Education Abroad Advisors.
