Villa Albertine seeks a Senior Editorial Director to enhance cultural ties between the U.S. and France. This role involves developing editorial strategies, managing content across platforms, and fostering partnerships with media and cultural stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have strong editorial skills, fluency in English and French, and a passion for cultural affairs.
Fully in-person position based in New York City starting September 1st, 2025
Villa Albertine is an institution of the French Embassy in the United States, supported by the French government and Albertine Foundation. Its mission is to strengthen ties between the United States, France and the French-speaking world through culture and education.Present in 10 major US cities –– Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, New Orleans, San Francisco, and Washington, DC –– it is headquartered in New York’s historic Payne Whitney Mansion on Fifth Avenue.
Under the supervision of the Director of the Books and Ideas Department at Villa Albertine, the Editorial Director develops a wide range of media content designed to extend and enrich the institution’s activities, with a particular focus on intellectual exchange and French-American dialogue. They contribute to the promotion of Villa Albertine’s residency program and help build partnerships with French and American stakeholders, with the aim of fostering new spaces for cultural and intellectual dialogue between France and the United States.
The Editorial Director of Villa Albertine is responsible for the following activities:
In close collaboration with the Communications Department and the Residencies Department,developing Villa Albertine’s editorial strategy. This includes designing innovative and engaging formats, content, and partnerships (across media and social platforms) that amplify and deepen the institution’s activities.
Overseeing editorial content across both print and digital platforms, including:
Developing strategic partnershipswith French and American media, as well as with key academic and publishing stakeholders, to foster and promote Franco-American cultural dialogue:

Candidates must already have legal authorization to reside and work in the United States. This includes holding an A visa, a green card, U.S. citizenship, or a pending work permit for an already-approved green card. Only applicants meeting this requirement will be considered.
