You will oversee live visual coverage launched over the weekend, including stills and video shot by photographers, guiding the commissioning and editing for visual presentations connected to weekend news events. You and those you supervise will be responsible for considering all presentation formats for the photography you commission and research, prioritizing mobile display and cutting edge digital formats. • Coordinate the homepage and live presentation of breaking news as well as planned news events that fall on weekends.
  • Prepare homepage presentations for major enterprise, weekend posters and panel artwork as needed.
  • Bring in additional photo staffing as needed on breaking news.
  • Weigh in on standards, legal and ethical questions that arise.
  • Be responsible for determining whether and when visual pieces are published, and identifying the most suitable presentation format.
  • Engage in dialogue with critical stakeholders on breaking news stories, including colleagues on Home and in Video to collaborate and coordinate coverage and presentation.
  • On occasion, collaborate with editors in the Reporter Video unit to coordinate video that highlights the work and expertise of our journalists and visual journalists in the field.
  • Supervise and give feedback to editors in editing, sequencing and producing multimedia pieces in a variety of formats.
  • Undertake editorial work on occasion as needed to familiarize with and explore formats, contributing to coverage in live news vehicles, home screen presentations, Express stories, and breaking/after hours news.
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
  • This role reports to Photo’s Assistant Editor, Digital.

Basic Qualifications:
