Job summary

Ornata seeks a Senior Robotics Software Engineer to design and own embedded software for autonomous tractors. You will work with operators and the engineering team to deliver robust, safety-critical solutions in outdoor environments.

Reporting to the CTO, you will shape Ornata's autonomy stack and enable reliable, field-ready software on edge devices, with a focus on fault tolerance and telemetry integration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in embedded systems, robotics, or autonomous platforms.
• Strong C/C++ skills on microcontrollers, with proficiency in Python.
• Deep understanding of localization, path planning and control theory.
• Experience with safety-critical or fault-tolerant systems and failure modes.
• Practical experience with HIL testing and automated validation frameworks.
• Comfort with Linux-based edge devices and distributed system communication.
• Experience developing perception systems using LiDAR/cameras and sensor fusion.
• Degree in Robotics, Computer, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design and own embedded and edge software for autonomous tractors.
• Build safety mechanisms, watchdogs, redundancy, and recovery behaviors.
• Develop perception, localization, and planning components for field use.
• Create robust data pipelines between field hardware and cloud services.
• Lead unit, integration, and HIL test frameworks and field validation.
• Implement logging, telemetry, and on-device diagnostics for safety.
