Job summary

Roblox Corporation seeks a Senior Software Engineer for Traffic Proxy to design and operate high-performance edge services. You will work on programmable, memory-safe Rust services on Kubernetes, tackle DDoS defenses, and push for scalable, reliable infrastructure across teams.

You are expected to own production systems, write design docs, and collaborate with Security, Reliability, and Networking teams to meet business priorities.

Qualifications

• 7+ years experience building backend or infrastructure software.
• Proficient in Rust; Go experience welcome.
• Strong networking fundamentals: TCP, TLS, HTTP/1.1/2, QUIC.
• Experience with kernel interactions and performance tuning.
• Experience with kernel-bypass and eBPF/XDP.
• Ability to design and operate Kubernetes-based systems end-to-end.
• Ability to write design docs for senior stakeholders.
• Curious, self-motivated problem solver with fast feedback loops.

Responsibilities

• Design and build high-performance services in the request data path.
• Leverage AI tools to speed up research, development, and troubleshooting.
• Evolve edge architecture toward simpler, programmable systems with rollback.
• Improve traffic classification and mitigate DDoS and abuse traffic.
• Build feedback loops that automate mitigation and reduce MTTR.
• Raise the efficiency of the edge and take ownership in production.
• Collaborate across Networking, Security, Reliability, and Compute.
• Maintain a high code quality bar and thoughtful architecture.
• Uphold Roblox values and community-first principles.
