Job summary

Roblox Corporation in California is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Application Gateway to design, build, and operate our Envoy-based gateway fleet that handles billions of requests daily.

You will own L7 routing, authentication, rate limiting, and traffic policy end-to-end while improving reliability, scale, and incident response across multi-cluster deployments. Strong Go/C/C++/Rust skills and Kubernetes production experience are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in distributed systems and networking architecture (Envoy, Kubernetes).
• Deep knowledge of L7 networking: routing, TLS termination, auth, rate limiting, load balancing.
• Production Kubernetes experience and familiarity with K8s networking model.
• Fluent in Go, C/C++, or Rust.
• On-call experience and reliability-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate Roblox's Envoy-based application gateway fleet for billions of daily requests.
• Own gateway reliability, scale, and edge incident reduction with config/code delivery improvements.
• Collaborate with internal networking and service teams to unify traffic flow across clusters and regions.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote testing, deployment, and reliability best practices.
