Job summary

UPMC Northwest is seeking a casual Patient Care Technician - Senior or Patient Care Technician - Specialist to join the Emergency Department Team. Final candidates will be selected for a job title within the career ladder reflecting education, experience and manager discretion at time of offer.

The role emphasizes nursing core assistant duties (ADLs) and may include advanced tasks based on department needs, patient transport, data collection, and basic monitoring under supervision.

Qualifications

• Competent with nursing core assistant responsibilities including ADLs.
• Ability to perform point-of-care testing, monitor vitals, I&O, and basic patient care advanced skills as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing core assistant duties including ADLs and basic patient care.
• Conduct point-of-care testing, vital signs, I&O, telemetry, and specimen collection.
• Transport patients and assist with hospital equipment and supplies.
• Assist with RN-directed patient care, restraints, and safety protocols.
• Document care and communicate learning needs for unit improvement.
• Support department operations and participate in quality initiatives.
