Job summary

Tectonic Engineering Consultants, Geologists & Land Surveyors, D.P.C. seeks an experienced Senior Ecologist to join our team full-time at our Newburgh, NY or Millburn, NJ office. The ideal candidate will lead ecological and wetlands projects across the Northeast, leveraging permitting and compliance expertise.

This role offers substantial growth, opportunities to mentor junior staff, and regular collaboration with clients and regulators, with occasional travel required to project sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Ecological Studies, Environmental Science, or similar is required.
• Minimum of 15 years of related experience.
• Certified Ecologist and/or Professional Wetlands Scientist (PWS) certifications required.
• Must have strong knowledge of permitting, compliance, and regulations in New York and New Jersey.
• Experience with site-specific field investigations, ecological inventories, and wetlands delineations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day direction and performance of environmental and ecological compliance services.
• Technical project planning with clients, staff, regulators, and contractors.
• Establishing and monitoring project schedules and budgets.
• Supervision and training of junior staff; conduct field studies and environmental inspections.
• Report preparation and review; proposal and scope development.
• Occasional travel to project sites and meetings.
• Support marketing and business development efforts.
