Job summary

NV5 seeks a Senior Ecologist for our Alpharetta, GA office with potential assignments in Cary, NC, SC or TN. The Senior Ecologist will provide technical expertise on environmental projects and lead field investigations and reporting.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelors in biology/ecology, 5–10 years of experience, strong writing skills, and willingness to travel; proficiency with GIS tools and Trimble GPS is preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, botany, ecology, wildlife or related curriculum.
• 5–10 years of experience with natural resource projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent writing skills and ability to interpret and present field data in technical reports.
• Experience and positive relationships with regulatory agencies.
• Willingness to travel for consecutive days/nights.
• Valid driver’s license prior to employment.
• Familiarity with Trimble GPS, MicroStation/GeoPak, and GIS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and/or supervise field investigations and data interpretation.
• Assist in training junior staff.
• Complete documentation and technical reports.
• Oversee projects including wetland delineations, stream determinations, permitting, and other protected species surveys.
• Communicate between staff, managers, agency personnel and clients.
• Complete project tasks within deadlines and budgets.
